Collaboration with Bob & Roberta Smith

Bob & Roberta Smith is standing against the Tory M.P. Michael Gove who tried to take art off the school syllabus. Our collaboration is likely to feature Gove who I've already had a go at painting...

Collaboration with Fanny Janssen

Fanny Janssen is an artist who also teaches at St Martins and writes for Laissez Faire magazine. We're both fans of Cindy Sherman and plan to pay tribute to her "69 Untitled Film Still" series from the 1970s. Below are 3 images from our first session. It would be nice to exhibit 42 images - each the size of a passport photo. Like Sherman's series, Fanny will appear as made-up people in scenes that could be from a film. I will be taking the photos and supplying the make-up, clothes, wigs and props.

Collaboration with Tinsel Edwards

Above: Tinsel Edwards is holding some Harry Mermaids paintings which she intends to work her magic on. After Tinsel graduated from Goldsmiths she helped set up The A-Side B-Side gallery and Pushing Pussy records. We've also discussed the possibility of making a large painting of New York bands that played at the legendary CBGB club such as Richard Hell, Blondie and Talking Heads.

Collaboration with Mel Cole

Mel Cole recently graduated from Chelsea collage. She and I have worked on several drawings together. The one above reminds me of Liz Fraizer of The Cocteau Twins. I photographed the drawing badly and then had to play with it on photo shop. I've always liked Andy Warhol's early drawings and think Mel's bits have captured some of that style. Below is another work in progress...

Collaboration with Mikey Georgeson

After leaving Winchester Art School and coming back to London in 1995 I became a big fan of a group called David Devant & His Spirit Wife. I'd go and see them in venues near Charring Cross rd such as The Buffalo Bar, The 100 Club, The 12 Bar Club. The band's lead singer (Mikey Georgeson) wore a wig that was the same as his real hair, a white suit with a Playboy badge and would often do magic tricks between songs. I attempted to paint him years ago but gave up. A few days ago I decided to invite Mikey Georgeson and Gordon Beswick to help me make the painting better...
Within 2 hours the painting improved a great deal. Gordon added curtains and Mikey painted in more of a crowd and added speakers. The painting is going to be dedicated to The Buffalo Bar which is sadly being threatened with closure.

Collaboration with Erica Macarthur

Erica and I are making 42 handmade birthday cards together....

Collaboration with David Dipré

Although I met David at Camberwell School of Art in 1990 (when we were on foundation) we only tried working together a few weeks ago. To get the ball rolling I gave him a few canvases I'd painted gold. On one of them I'd painted round my hands in blue.

David stuck two of the canvases together and turned it into a bit of a tribute to Peter Blake - I've started to add actual badges from my personal collection...

Collaboration with Rowland Smith

Years ago I met the actress Angelina Jolie. She came into the bookshop where I work to buy a book on Lucian Freud. My friend Rowland, who I've known since I was 16 painted the above painting "Breakfast in Bed" with me. We're both fans of the film Bedazzled which includes a memorable scene with Dudley Moore and Rachel Welch that also helped inspire this painting.
Another painting Rowland and I did was of me as a teenager playing chess with my Dad. This one is called "Whose Go Is It Again?"
