This painting is 90 x 110cm and was painted in Whitstable in Kent. It's of Jesus being taken down from the cross. The area of pure blue is by me and in my memory I started the head but then Geraldine Swayne vastly improved everything. I think Billy Childish felt he'd dominated the other painting we made together.

Collaboration with Billy Childish
In 2009 I had my first lesson in how to paint with oils. Geraldine Swayne drove me to Billy Childish's mum's house. I brought out a book of images of Jesus and selected a painting based on the mocking of Christ (when he was forced to wear a crown of thorns). Billy and Geraldine did much more of this painting than I did!

Collaboration with Gordon Beswick
This painting from 2012 The Life Drawing Class by Gordon Beswick and myself is partly a homage to (or rip-off of) Matisse. It's also based on photos Gordon took of me and Billy Childish drawing a beautiful life model.

Collaboration with Kes Richardson
Many years ago Kes Richardson and I did a series of paintings together based on the idea of the artist and their muse. I always liked this one we did of Man Ray and Lee Miller. Yesterday a musician friend called Micko Westmoreland asked if this painting could be on the cover of his new album "Yours ETC Abc."

Collaboration with Natasha Mediator
Natasha Xavier (a.k.a Natasha Mediator) took this photo: Ha Ray which is based on Man Ray's self portrait.
Collaboration with Francis Macdonald
Francis Macdonald (a Glasgow based musician best known for being the drummer for Teenage Fanclub) and I have written 11 songs or sound pieces together. We made hundreds of drawings for a video for a song we wrote called Sympathy for Jean Luc Godard. Our video was screened as part of an exhibition called This Is Our Art, This Is Our Music that took place at The David Risley Gallery in Denmark in 2014
As part of our collaboration I recorded myself giving a speech about my art hero Jean Dubuffet which Francis put to music. For the collaborations show we plan to make an animated video that features my Dubuffet inspired work...

Collaboration with Julian Wakeling
Julian Wakeling and I have been friends for 20 years. We are both fans of Brian Wilson and The Beach Boys. Our painting, In My Room is named after a Beach Boys song. Patrick Caulfield also named a painting after this track.
