Collaboration with Emma Coleman

Emma Coleman and I have known each other a long, long time. She contributed to two shows I curated ("Four By Four" and "100 Mothers"). I found a cartoon of Richard Nixon by Philip Guston. I had an idea we could somehow turn the small b&w cartoon into a large full colour painting. Emma talked about the Frost/Nixon film and suggested we also painted David Frost. I said we could have 2 seperate paintings and then she came up with the idea of the Frost and Nixon both being on a TV screen. Below is a work in progress of the Frost painting...

Collaboration with Astrid Horkheimer

Astrid Horkheimer and I have had fun collaborating on several collages. Including some like the one above that will feature in a promo video for a song by Micko Westmoreland. Recently we made a collage featuring 42 images of Elvis Presley (Sadly 42 is the age Elvis was when he died). The image below is a detail of a work in progress.

Collaboration with Chris Coombes

Chris Coombes and I have been friends for a good 15 years or more. He is a Chelsea graduate, in 2012 his work was featured in The Whitechapel Gallery open and he curated "Video Show" at The Fuction Room in Stoke Newington. A few years back I was invited to curate a group show for The Deptford X Festival. The Mayor of Lewisham came to open the show and we posed next to my Tin Tin in Deptford painting...

Collaboration with Luke Gottelier

Luke Gottelier and I have made several works together including this painting which was made with acrylic, oil and ties.

Collaboration with Brian Griffiths

Brian Griffiths sat and answered 42 of my questions during a long train journey to Blackpool.
Harry: What is your idea of beauty in nature?
Brian: "Something between a robin standing on a sparkling snow covered log and a clown falling over."

Collaboration with Caroline Jupp

Caroline Jupp is the co founder of The Library of Unwritten Books. Library of Unwritten Books is a collection of possible books that began in 2002. Short interviews are recorded with people about a book they dream of writing or making. Limited edition mini books are published from transcripts of the interviews, which are made available to readers at exhibitions and special events. Touring book-boxes also display the books at everyday venues such as cafés, pubs, libraries and launderettes. The books are collected through random encounters in parks, city streets and public places, and by invitations to visit literature festivals, public libraries and community centres. People are prompted to spontaneously record their unrealised ideas, fictional tales, and personal histories. There is no selection procedure and all contributors to the library receive a free copy of their own unwritten book. The collection is evidence of the common desire to write a book and is an ongoing survey of this literary phenomenon.

Caroline and I have been talking about doing an event based about our Dads. The 23rd of April is when World Book Night takes place. We're planning an evening in which we do readings from our father's favourite 42 books.  

Collaboration with Ed Hill & Jacob Louis Beaney

Jacob Louis Beaney runs a fictitious museum and has self published books of his cartoons and poetry. Ed Hill was born in 1989. His paintings recently featured in Bloomberg New Contemporaries at The ICA in London.  Ed, Jacob and myself are all fans of Cool Hand Luke (a 1967 film starring Paul Newman). We're planning to collaborate on a comic strip version of the movie. I made 2 very rough drawings this morning...
